Tanzania cabinet endorses e-government

A workshop was convened to establish Tanzania Parliamentary Network for ICT for Development (ParlNet ICT D Tanzania) simply dubbed BungeNet. The Cabinet has officially endorsed establishment of electronic-government (e-government), as part of the ambition to turn the country into a hub of information and communication technology in Africa. This initiative to be co-ordinated by the Public Service Department, would enable the government to collect and hold vast amounts of locally relevant information.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed with The government of Ghana and Microsoft aimed at creating a workforce that is literate in information and communications technology. Angola has also signed an agreement with the software giant on financing Internet access for the government and training.
