The joint efforts between India and the US in climate change mitigation and energy transition have resulted in the much-anticipated creation of green jobs while also fostering the possibility of a more sustainable planet, said Jorgan K. Andrews, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy, in New Delhi on Tuesday.

At the 21st Indo-US Economic Summit in New Delhi, Jorgan K. Andrews, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy, underscored the growing collaboration between India and the United States in combating climate change, a move set to create well-paying green jobs. The summit, organised by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), highlighted the two nations’ partnership in climate change mitigation and energy transition.

“The impact on our collective prosperity, if we do not address these climate issues together, is profound. Together, we are reducing emissions and helping India to grow in a way that limits global climate challenges while creating the well-paying green jobs we all hope to see,” Andrews remarked.

He also referenced the recent talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden during the QUAD Summit, underscoring the deepening bilateral ties between the two nations. Andrews announced the upcoming India-US Commercial Dialogue and CEOs Forum in Washington, co-chaired by India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, as another key platform to enhance economic cooperation.

Abhay Sinha, Director General of the Services Export Promotion Council, said the US remains a crucial partner in India’s services sector, valued at USD 350 billion. Summit Chair and IACC Immediate Past President Lalit Bhasin also expressed confidence in the continued strength of Indo-US relations, irrespective of the US election outcome.
