
In a sudden move on Monday, the central bureaucracy witnessed a fresh overhaul. The reshuffle involved fresh appointments and lateral shifts of five senior-most IAS officers, adding intrigue to the political landscape amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha Polls 2024, currently in its final phase.
The reshuffled union secretaries include:
Amit Yadav (IAS: 1991: AGMUT), assumes the role of Officer on Special Duty, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, in preparation to succeed Saurabh Garg upon his superannuation. Yadav, presently serving as Chairman of NDMC, is set to step into this pivotal role.

Raj Kumar Goyal (IAS: 1990: AGMUT), formerly with the Ministry of Home Affairs, now takes charge as Secretary of the Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law & Justice, following his recent stint in the Department of Border Management.

Rajendra Kumar (IAS: 1992: TN) transitions to Secretary of the Department of Border Management, replacing Raj Kumar Goyal. Kumar, currently serving as DG of ESIC, brings his expertise to this strategic position.

Rakesh Ranjan (IAS: 1992: MN) receives a promotion to Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission, with the post temporarily upgraded and Recruitment Rules suspended. Ranjan, currently holding the position of Special Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, steps into this elevated role.
Pradip Kumar Tripathi (IAS: 1987: AGMUT), currently Secretary (Coordination) at the Cabinet Secretariat, assumes the mantle of Secretary to the Lokpal of India until his superannuation, following which he will continue on a contractual basis for an additional two years.
