In a significant development aimed at providing relief to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann unveiled an innovative online portal, eservices.punjab.gov.in, under the Revenue department. The portal offers a seamless process for NRIs to apply for document embossing from the comfort of their homes, simplifying property transactions in the state.

Describing the move as a groundbreaking step towards e-governance, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized the difficulties faced by NRIs in personally attending sub-registrar offices in India for registering property-related documents. To address these challenges and facilitate NRIs, the entire process has been digitized, allowing applicants to easily apply for document embossing through the online portal.

The newly launched platform enables applicants to submit their documents at various designated locations, including district offices, Divisional Commissioner’s offices, and Financial Commissioner’s offices, with each location offering specific conditions for document submission. Upon application, the documents undergo a thorough scrutiny and approval process by the relevant authorities, ensuring the highest level of efficiency and accuracy.

One of the portal’s notable features is the slot booking facility, allowing applicants to select their preferred date and time for the embossing service at their chosen location. This feature streamlines scheduling and enhances user convenience, making the process smoother and more accessible.

In addition to the core functionalities, the online portal incorporates various supplementary features aimed at enhancing user experience. These include dynamic document uploading, multiple payment gateways, automatic fee calculation, SMS and Email alerts, acknowledgment upon submission, and intimation upon approval, among others.
The round-the-clock availability of the online system allows citizens to apply for document embossing at any time, and the documents will be diligently reviewed by concerned officials before scheduling an appointment for the applicant. Moreover, citizens can conveniently pay the requisite fees online, minimizing the need for physical visits to the concerned offices.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann highlighted that higher authorities will be able to monitor the status of document processing through MIS reports, ensuring efficient and time-bound services to citizens. With this pioneering initiative, Punjab is poised to revolutionize property transactions for NRIs and bring greater transparency and efficiency to the e-governance landscape.
