Kanwardeep Kaur becomes first SSP of Malerkotla

Kanwardeep Kaur, an IPS officer of 2013-Batch of Punjab cadre, has been appointed as the first Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the newly carved Malerkotla district in Punjab. The Government of Punjab issued the appointment orders for Kanwardeep’s appointment on June 2. Currently, she is serving as SSP in the Kapurthala district.

The decision came after the Punjab cabinet nodded to create Malerkotla as the 23rd district of the State of Punjab. Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh announced the creation of the Muslim-majority district (Malerkotla) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on May 14.
