Dr Samit Sharma to be State Commissioner (Rajasthan), Specially Abled Persons

The Government of Rajasthan issued an official order on May 17 to assign the charge of State Commissioner, Specially Abled Persons to Dr Samit Sharma in additional capacity. The 2004-Batch IAS officer is presently posted as Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur.

Dr Sharma is known for his efforts to provide access to low-cost generic medicines in the state of Rajasthan. Previously, he had worked in various capacities like District Collector, Chittorgarh; Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in Jodhpur, C.E.O of Nagar Nigam, Kota; Secretary, Urban Development Project, Kota; and Commissioner, Labour Department and Managing Director, Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC), Jaipur.
