A group of American academicians welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Digital India’ initiative, asserting that it has the potential to herald a new era of participatory democracy.

More than 150 American academicians from many of the most prestigious institutions said in a statement, “We welcome Prime Minister Modi’s support for the Digital India initiative.”

The ‘Digital India’ initiative would herald transparency in governance, the signatories believe.

“We join fellow Americans in welcoming India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to California’s Silicon Valley on his inaugural visit there September 26-27, 2015.”
