The government has appointed M Sathiyavathy as Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Sathiyavathy, who will replace Prabhat Kumar, will be the first woman to become the chief aviation regulator, according to reports.

Sathiyavathi, a 1982-batch UT cadre IAS officer, will remain at the helm of DGCA for three years till 2017.
