Telecoms Ministry to establish more community access points in Jamaica

The Ministry of Energy, Mining and Telecommunications of Jamaica announced that the Ministry will be placing an emphasis on the establishment of community access points as part of its efforts to increase public access to IT.

The Ministry of Energy, Mining and Telecommunications of Jamaica announced that the Ministry will be placing an emphasis on the establishment of community access points as part of its efforts to increase public access to IT.

While addressing the sixth focus group meetings on the Electronic Transactions Act, Minister Clive Mullings stated that the Ministry is going to have these community access points in shops, community centres. It means that one can go to the shop, which has electronic access point and pay his bill. The government will continue its support to promote a technology policy, which promotes e- governance, e-commerce, distance education and the use of ICT to drive the process of development and generation of jobs.
