Thailand's e-Government system has ranked 46th out of a hundred countries assessed by the United Nations e-Government Readiness Index. Thailand is behind other three Southeast countries, Singapore (7th), the Philippines (41st) and Malaysia (43rd).
The main aim of the survey is to encourage countries to improve their e-Government systems to serve the public more efficiently. The hairman of the Office of the Civil Service Commission's sub-committee on the development of e-government systems, Somphob Amatayakul urged civil servants to develop the system further to improve the country's standing. He said the e-revenue project of the Revenue Department was considered the most successful service in the e-Government system because it allowed people to receive tax services electronically. All state-run agencies should develop a back-office system.
