The developments were reviewed by Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, who directed officials to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining construction quality. He warned that negligence, unnecessary delays or any compromise with approved designs, technical standards and material specifications would lead to accountability being fixed on the concerned officials and agencies.

Four major irrigation projects completed during 2025-26 in Maharajganj, Kannauj, Unnao and Lalitpur have created or restored irrigation capacity covering 39,250 hectares, benefiting nearly 40,000 farmers.

Under the second phase of the Madhya Ganga Project, gaps in the Chandausi Branch Canal have also been completed, creating an additional irrigation capacity of 57,000 hectares. The project is expected to improve water availability for farmers and support agricultural productivity.

The minister directed Chief Engineers to conduct regular field inspections instead of relying solely on reports. Completed projects must also undergo physical verification to ensure that farmers, villagers and other beneficiaries are receiving the intended benefits.
