The Government of India has appointed T. Armstrong Changsan as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Armenia. A 1997-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Changsan is currently serving as India’s Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba and is expected to assume his new assignment shortly.
The appointment is part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ ongoing efforts to strengthen India’s diplomatic engagement with partner countries across different regions.
Experienced Diplomat Takes on New Assignment
T. Armstrong Changsan has built an extensive diplomatic career spanning nearly three decades. Before taking charge as India’s Ambassador to Cuba in March 2024, he served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, where he handled important responsibilities related to India’s foreign policy.
Earlier, he also represented India as Ambassador to the Republic of Iceland, contributing to the strengthening of bilateral ties between the two countries.
Focus on Strengthening India-Armenia Relations
As India’s next Ambassador to Armenia, Changsan will play a key role in further enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, education, culture, technology and people-to-people exchanges.
India and Armenia have maintained friendly diplomatic relations, with growing cooperation across multiple sectors in recent years. The new appointment is expected to further deepen engagement between the two nations.
Wide Diplomatic Experience
Over the course of his career, Changsan has held several important assignments both at the Ministry of External Affairs and at Indian missions abroad. His experience in bilateral diplomacy and international affairs is expected to support India’s strategic and economic interests in the region.
