Senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Vishwesh Negi has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Monday. A 2002-batch IFS officer, Negi is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the ministry and is expected to assume his new assignment shortly.
His appointment comes at a time when West Asia continues to witness heightened geopolitical tensions, making the diplomatic posting strategically significant for India.

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that Vishwesh Negi has been selected as India’s next Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Negi is presently serving as Joint Secretary in the MEA and will take over the diplomatic assignment after completing the necessary formalities.
