The Gujarat Government has entrusted additional responsibilities to two senior IAS officers following the transfer of Alok Kumar Pandey, ensuring that key administrative functions continue without disruption until permanent arrangements are made.

The appointments, notified in the name of the Governor of Gujarat, involve important portfolios related to disaster management, relief administration, youth affairs and cultural activities.
Rajesh Manjhu Gets Key Disaster Management Responsibilities

Rajesh Manjhu (IAS: 2004), who is currently serving as Revenue Inspection Commissioner and Ex-officio Secretary to the Government in the Revenue Department, has been assigned several additional responsibilities.

Under the new arrangement, he will also hold the charge of:

- Commissioner of Relief
- Ex-officio Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department
- Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA)
The responsibilities were previously held by Alok Kumar Pandey and will now be managed by Manjhu until further orders.
Important Role in Relief and Disaster Management
With the additional charge of CEO, GSDMA, Rajesh Manjhu will oversee one of Gujarat’s most critical institutions responsible for disaster preparedness and emergency response.
The authority plays a vital role in disaster mitigation, rehabilitation, reconstruction efforts, climate resilience planning and coordination with district administrations during emergencies.
As Commissioner of Relief, he will also supervise relief operations, rehabilitation measures and emergency assistance programmes across the state.
Yogesh Nirgude Given Additional Responsibility
In a separate order, Yogesh Nirgude (IAS: 2013) has been assigned an additional charge alongside his current responsibilities.
Nirgude, who is serving as Additional Development Commissioner, Gandhinagar, has now been appointed Commissioner, Youth Services and Cultural Activities.
The position was also being handled by Alok Kumar Pandey before his transfer.
The assignment places Nirgude in charge of programmes related to youth development, sports promotion, cultural activities and various initiatives aimed at engaging young people across Gujarat.
Ensuring Administrative Continuity
The latest decisions are part of the state government’s efforts to maintain continuity in governance following changes in senior-level postings.
Officials said assigning additional responsibilities to experienced officers will ensure smooth functioning of departments linked to revenue administration, disaster management, relief operations, youth affairs and cultural development until regular appointments are made.

Yogesh Nirgude (IAS: 2013)
Yogesh Nirgude is serving as Additional Development Commissioner, Gandhinagar. Along with his existing role, he will now head the Youth Services and Cultural Activities Department as Commissioner.
