The Madhya Pradesh government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle, transferring and assigning new responsibilities to 29 IAS officers across several key departments and divisions. The exercise impacts important sectors including revenue administration, urban development, education, health, energy, tribal welfare, sports, and cooperative administration.


The latest transfers, issued by the General Administration Department, are aimed at strengthening governance, improving coordination among departments, and enhancing administrative efficiency across the state.

Alok Kumar Singh Moved from Chief Minister’s Secretariat


One of the most notable changes in the reshuffle is the transfer of Alok Kumar Singh (IAS: 2008), who was serving as Secretary to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and holding additional charge of the Mines Department.


He has now been appointed as:

  • Inspector General of Registration
  • Superintendent of Stamps

The move marks a significant change in the administrative setup of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.


Dr E. Ramesh Kumar Takes Charge of Revenue Department

Senior IAS officer Dr E. Ramesh Kumar (IAS: 1999) has been appointed:

  • Principal Secretary, Revenue Department
  • Relief Commissioner
  • Rehabilitation Commissioner

He will continue to oversee:

  • Backward Classes Welfare Department
  • Minority Welfare Department
  • Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes Department

The assignment places him in charge of one of the state’s most important administrative portfolios.

Mukesh Chand Gupta Appointed Principal Secretary, Jail Department

Mukesh Chand Gupta (IAS: 1998) has been posted as:

  • Principal Secretary, Jail Department

He will continue to hold an additional charge as:

  • Member, Revenue Board, Gwalior

Vivek Kumar Porwal Gets Mineral Resources Department

Vivek Kumar Porwal (IAS: 2000) has been appointed:

  • Principal Secretary, Mineral Resources Department

The department plays a key role in managing Madhya Pradesh’s mining sector and related revenue generation.

Bhopal Division

Sanjeev Singh (IAS: 2005), who was serving as Commissioner, Bhopal Division, has been transferred as:

  • Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department

Karmveer Sharma (IAS: 2010) has been appointed:

  • Commissioner, Bhopal Division

Rewa Division

Babu Singh Jamod (IAS: 2006) has been shifted from Rewa Division and appointed:

  • Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department

Shailendra Singh (IAS: 2010) has been posted as:

  • Commissioner, Rewa Division

Cooperative and Food Departments Get New Leadership

Deepak Singh (IAS: 2007) has been appointed:

  • Commissioner-cum-Registrar, Cooperative Societies

Bhaskar Lakkar (IAS: 2010) has been posted as:

  • Commissioner-cum-Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection
  • Additional charge of Secretary, Food Department

Energy and Renewable Energy Sector Appointments

Amit Tomar (IAS: 2009) has been appointed:

  • Managing Director, Energy Development Corporation
  • Additional charge of Commissioner, New and Renewable Energy

Kailash Wankhede (IAS: 2013) has been posted as:

Rohit Singh (IAS: 2012) has been appointed:

  • Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Textbook Corporation
  • Additional Secretary, School Education Department

Bharti Jatav Ogre (IAS: 2012) has been appointed:

Manoj Pushp (IAS: 2011) has been given charge as:

Amanbir Singh Bais (IAS: 2013) has been appointed:

Dinesh Shrivastava (IAS: 2010) has been posted as:

Officials believe his appointment will help strengthen implementation of healthcare and insurance programmes across the state.

  • Aniruddha Mukherjee (IAS: 1993) – Additional Chief Secretary, Environment Department; Environment Commissioner; Director General, ECO
  • Gulshan Bamra (IAS: 1997) – Additional charge of Scheduled Castes Welfare Department
  • Sonia Meena (IAS: 2013) – Additional Secretary, Finance Department and additional charge as Commissioner-cum-Director, Institutional Finance

Reshuffle Aims to Strengthen Governance

The transfer of 29 IAS officers represents one of the largest administrative exercises undertaken by the Madhya Pradesh government in recent months. The changes span key governance areas including revenue administration, health, education, tribal welfare, urban development, sports, energy, cooperative institutions, food distribution, and district administration.

Officials said the reshuffle is expected to improve policy implementation, enhance departmental coordination, and strengthen governance delivery across the state.
