Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has strengthened its commitment towards youth skill development by partnering with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Bhubaneswar, to provide industry-oriented technical training to young people from its operational regions. The initiative aims to improve employability and create long-term livelihood opportunities through structured vocational education.
The programme is being implemented under MCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and reflects the company’s focus on empowering local communities through education and skill development.
Two-Year Residential ITI Programme for Technical Training
Under the initiative, 40 selected candidates will undergo a two-year residential Industrial Training Institute (ITI) programme at CIPET Bhubaneswar.
The training batch includes:
- 20 students in Electrician Trade
- 20 students in Fitter Trade
Officials said the programme has been designed to combine classroom learning with practical technical exposure so that students acquire industry-relevant skills.
₹1.26 Crore Allocated Under CSR Support
MCL will provide financial assistance of ₹1.26 crore for the programme under its CSR framework.
The funding will cover:
- Training costs
- Food and accommodation
- Residential facilities
- Other associated educational expenses
The support aims to ensure that students can access quality technical training without financial barriers.
Sixth Batch Under MCL-CIPET Collaboration
This is the sixth batch of the ITI training programme being conducted through the partnership between MCL and CIPET Bhubaneswar.
Previous batches have shown encouraging outcomes:
- Three batches covering 2021–23, 2022–24 and 2023–25 have already been completed
- More than 97 candidates have secured employment opportunities
- Two additional batches for 2024–26 and 2025–27 are currently underway
The continued expansion of the programme reflects its growing impact in creating skilled manpower.
