In a major administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government on Wednesday ordered the transfer and posting of 22 IAS and nine Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officers with immediate effect. The large-scale reshuffle, announced on August 20, 2025, aims to re-energize key departments by placing experienced officers in critical positions to streamline governance and enhance administrative efficiency.

Key Appointments and Transfers

The reshuffle witnessed several senior IAS officers receiving new responsibilities, while others were assigned additional charges.

Vikas Pratap, a 1994-batch IAS officer awaiting posting, has been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary, Social Security, Women and Child Development, relieving Raji Pramod Shrivastava, IAS, of the additional charge.

IAS Sumer Singh Gurjar (1998 batch), Principal Secretary, Elections, will now also hold the additional charge of Financial Commissioner, Cooperation, taking over from Alok Shekhar, IAS.

IAS Mohammad Tayyab (2007 batch), previously awaiting posting, has been appointed Secretary, Jails.

IAS Gurpreet Singh Khaira (2009 batch), earlier serving as Secretary and Director, Local Government, has been posted as Secretary, Justice.

IAS Sandeep Hans (2010 batch), previously linked with Punjab INFOTECH under the Department of Industries & Commerce, will now serve as its Managing Director, taking over from Rahul Chaba, IAS.

Deputy Commissioners of Mansa, Sangrur and Bathinda have also been reshuffled. IAS Navjot Kaur is the new DC of Mansa, Rahul Chaba of Sangrur, and Rajesh Dhiman of Bathinda.

Other changes include: Kulwant Singh as Director, Local Government; Showkat Ahmad Parray as Special Secretary, Finance, and Executive Officer, Punjab Waqf Board; Parneet Shergill as State Transport Commissioner; Jaspreet Singh as Special Secretary, Food Processing; Gautam Jain as Additional Secretary, Personnel; and Gulpreet Singh Aulakh as Special Secretary, Revenue and Rehabilitation.

Additionally, Ayush Goel has been posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Tapa, while Bikramjit Singh Shergill’s services have been placed at the disposal of the Local Government Department for appointment as Municipal Commissioner of Amritsar.

Among PCS officers, Isha Singal, Simerpreet, Geetika Singh, Jiwan Jot Kaur, and Shivraj Singh Bal were also transferred.

This reshuffle marks a significant step in the Punjab Government’s strategy to strengthen administration and ensure effective delivery of services.
