At the Digi Governance Knowledge Exchange Summit organised by Elets Technomedia and IT Department, Government of Kerala, M.A. JOHAR, President, Strategic Business, CP PLUS shared his insights.

In a rapidly digitizing world, the importance of smart surveillance cannot be understated. Security cameras are no longer just luxury items for commercial premises or government facilities. They have become essential components for households, small businesses, and public infrastructure. One brand driving this transformation in India is CP Plus, spearheaded by its parent company, Aditya Infotech Limited.

The journey of CP Plus began in 2007 when Aditya Infotech decided to bring surveillance camera technology to the masses. Founded in 1995, the company envisioned a future where CCTV and smart surveillance systems weren’t just for the elite or large enterprises, but essential tools for every home and small business. Their mission was to bridge the gap between sophisticated security solutions and everyday accessibility.

Transforming Surveillance into a Household Need
When CP Plus entered the market, the idea of installing surveillance cameras at home seemed extravagant. However, this was during a time when India was witnessing an upheaval of affordable services – from low-cost airlines to budget hotels. CP Plus saw an opportunity to position their cameras as cost-effective, indispensable security tools for every household. Over time, their growing prominence in national television, including a notable collaboration with Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Bigg Boss, helped embed the brand in public consciousness.

By establishing the need and creating a sense of security across Indian homes, CP Plus made surveillance a domestic priority. Their influence helped create a culture where cameras discouraged petty crimes and instilled a sense of accountability.

Scaling Manufacturing Capabilities to Meet Demand
Recognizing the rising demand, CP Plus took bold steps in scaling their manufacturing. In 2017, they partnered with Dixon Technologies, one of India’s largest contract manufacturers of electronic goods, to establish a joint venture for producing cameras locally. Starting with a production capacity of 1 million units per month, they further expanded operations in 2023 by opening a new factory with the capability of manufacturing 2.5 million cameras monthly.

This facility is now recognized as one of the largest such factories in the world, serving both domestic and export markets. Their manufacturing capabilities are not just about volume but also about indigenization. Aligning with India’s “Make in India” initiative, CP Plus emphasizes local component sourcing, including active research into developing semiconductor chips and System-on-Chip (SOC) designs in collaboration with major Indian players like L&T and VVDN.

Smart Surveillance Through Innovation and R&D
Modern surveillance isn’t merely about hardware—it’s about intelligent software that powers the cameras and enables advanced applications like facial recognition, automatic number plate recognition, and crowd monitoring.

CP Plus has invested heavily in research and development, boasting a dedicated team of over 300 R&D engineers. Their efforts have led to the creation of over 850 camera models tailored for unique scenarios. Whether it’s a dome camera for indoor residential use or a high-power 4MP camera for security gates, CP Plus designs purpose-built technology that meets specific user needs.

One core innovation from CP Plus is their Trusted Core Technology (CTC). This security framework ensures all their devices are tamper-proof and capable of secure data transmission across various connectivity types—Wi-Fi, 4G PTZ, or wired solutions. CTC instills confidence by guaranteeing that the device monitoring your property is itself secure from external threats.

Data Security and Government Compliance
In the age of data breaches, ensuring that surveillance systems themselves are secure has become a critical area of focus. CP Plus takes this concern seriously. In accordance with recent Indian government policies, every surveillance camera sold must pass rigorous testing by certified laboratories under the Standardization Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) norms.

CP Plus cameras proudly meet these standards, making them among the most secure options available in the Indian market. The government has mandated that all procurement entities across state and central departments check for STQC certification when purchasing surveillance systems. This regulation marks a significant step towards self-reliance and secure digital infrastructure.

Widespread Application Across Sectors
Beyond homes and businesses, CP Plus plays a pivotal role in multiple sectors including law enforcement, education, transportation, and healthcare. Their surveillance solutions have enhanced security across police departments, safe city initiatives, and educational institutions.

For instance, 140,000 CP Plus cameras are installed in Delhi schools, and 160,000 units serve the Delhi Police Department. Their systems are used for monitoring border areas, interrogation rooms, and traffic enforcement, such as automatic number plate recognition. At an inauguration event in Ludhiana, CP Plus showcased how real-time vehicle tracking was possible across a city using their systems, a demonstration that left local authorities both impressed and assured.

Customized Solutions with a Customer-First Approach
What makes CP Plus stand out is its solution-driven approach. Rather than promoting off-the-shelf products, the company listens to specific customer problems and tailors their hardware and software accordingly. A prime example includes fabric manufacturers using CP Plus cameras on conveyor belts to detect defects invisible to the human eye. Law enforcement, on the other hand, uses the technology for collecting admissible evidence and monitoring crime zones.

Through these wide-reaching applications, it’s evident that CP Plus isn’t just a camera manufacturer; they are a comprehensive surveillance solution provider solving real-world problems.

Conclusion: Leading the Smart Surveillance Revolution
CP Plus stands at the forefront of India’s smart surveillance evolution. From bridging the affordability gap to driving indigenous manufacturing and delivering sophisticated AI-powered solutions, the company has helped redefine safety across the country. With continued focus on R&D, strong compliance with government security standards, and a widespread network covering over 500 cities, CP Plus delivers reliability and innovation where it matters most: protecting people, businesses, and communities.

As the world pivots towards smart cities and data-driven security, CP Plus’s role as a trusted, secure, and scalable solution provider positions them as a key player in shaping the future of surveillance technology.
