
In a significant administrative move, the Tamil Nadu government on Sunday elevated five IAS officers from the 2001 batch to the Principal Secretary grade. The officers promoted include T.N. Venkatesh, Commissioner of Backward Classes Welfare; P. Umanath, Secretary – I to the Chief Minister at the Secretariat; Rajendra Ratnoo, who retains his deputation role as Executive Director, National Institute of Disaster Management, New Delhi; R. Lalvena, Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration; and R. Kirlosh Kumar, Secretary to the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Chennai, according to an official press release.
Additionally, the state government had recently promoted five 1994-batch IAS officers to the Chief Secretary grade, following the temporary sanction for the creation of Additional Chief Secretary rank posts. The officers and their new roles are as follows:

- P. Amudha: Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Chennai.
- Dr. Atul Anand: Additional Chief Secretary, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Department.
- Sudeep Jain: On central deputation as Additional Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
- Kakarla Usha: Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department.
- Selvi Apoorva: Agriculture Production Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture-Farmers Welfare Department.
