
The inaugural day of the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 set the stage with a thematic session titled ‘Embracing Diversity: Promoting Inclusive Tourism.’ The event featured the Minister of Tourism, Government of India, as the Chief Guest and Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister as the Guest of Honour.
The Minister of Tourism emphasised Rajasthan’s immense potential, stating, “Tourism is the largest growth opportunity for Rajasthan. The state offers diverse experiences, from adventure tourism to modern infrastructure, cuisine, culture, and nature. As India emerges as a global destination for experiential tourism, inclusive tourism is vital to attract a broader audience of global travellers.”
The Deputy Chief Minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment, adding, “Rajasthan is dedicated to becoming a top global choice for tourism. Aligned with the national vision to boost tourism through investment, the state is focusing on inclusivity and promoting its unique attractions worldwide.” She also stressed collaboration with stakeholders to provide the necessary resources for achieving this vision.

Ravi Jain, Secretary of the Department of Tourism and Art and Culture, highlighted Rajasthan’s position in the Golden Triangle, which connects Agra, Jaipur, and Delhi, as a magnet for foreign tourists. He outlined how the state’s innovative policies, such as reduced electricity charges and land incentives, are designed to bolster the sector, driving sustainable growth for local communities and global visitors alike.

The session explored key themes such as ethical tourism practices, accessibility for people of all abilities, and the social and economic benefits of tourism for local communities. Discussions also delved into new tourism avenues like adventure tourism, ecotourism, rural tourism, and culinary tourism, showcasing Rajasthan’s potential for diversification. Industry leaders presented global best practices to inspire innovative approaches in the sector.

The panel featured prominent voices, including Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO of The Indian Hotels Co Ltd, heritage expert and author Anjali Bharthari Ravi, actor and influencer Nakuul Mehta, poet and actor Shailesh Lodha, and Neha Arora, founder and CEO of Planet Abled. Their insights added depth to the discussions on fostering inclusivity in Rajasthan’s tourism landscape.
