Delhi Metro Phase-IV

The Union Cabinet has approved the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor under Delhi Metro’s Phase-IV project. Spanning 26.463 km, the corridor aims to enhance connectivity between Delhi and Haryana, with a scheduled completion timeline of four years from its sanction date.

The project, costing ₹6,230 crore, will be implemented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), a 50:50 Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) jointly owned by the Government of India and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD). This corridor will serve as an extension of the existing Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) – Rithala Red Line, connecting key areas such as Narela, Bawana, and parts of Rohini. All 21 stations on this stretch will be elevated.

Upon completion, the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur corridor will link Shaheed Sthal in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, with Nathupur in Haryana, providing seamless connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR). This strategic expansion of the metro network is expected to reduce road congestion and vehicle-induced pollution while boosting the local economy.

Currently, Delhi Metro operates three corridors into Haryana—Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh. This project will mark the fourth extension into the neighbouring state, further integrating NCR’s transportation network.

As part of Phase IV, three priority corridors covering 65.202 km with 45 stations are already under construction, with over 56% progress achieved and expected completion by March 2026. Two additional corridors, totalling 20.762 km, are in the pre-tendering stage.

With an extensive network of 12 metro lines spanning approximately 392 km and 288 stations, DMRC serves an average of 64 lakh passenger journeys daily, reaching a peak of 78.67 lakh journeys on November 18, 2024. Delhi Metro remains a lifeline for the city, celebrated for its punctuality, reliability, and safety.
