Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas Gets Six-Month Extension

Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas (IAS: 1989: RJ) has been granted a six-month extension in service, allowing him to continue as the state’s top bureaucrat until February 28, 2027.

Srinivas was scheduled to retire at the end of August 2026. The extension is expected to provide continuity in the state administration as Rajasthan prepares for upcoming local body elections and works on major investment-related initiatives.

Extension Follows State Government Request

The Rajasthan Government had formally requested an extension of one year for V Srinivas from the Centre on July 23, 2026.

The request cited the need for administrative continuity, particularly in view of the upcoming local body elections and the implementation of major investment proposals in the state.

The Centre has now approved a six-month extension, taking his tenure up to February 28, 2027.

V Srinivas Took Charge in November 2025

V Srinivas assumed office as Chief Secretary of Rajasthan on November 17, 2025, after serving on central deputation.

Since taking charge, he has been overseeing the functioning of the state administration and coordinating the implementation of government priorities across departments.

Focus on Administrative Continuity

The extension comes at a time when Rajasthan is preparing for local body elections and working to translate investment commitments into projects on the ground.

Continuity at the level of Chief Secretary is expected to help the state administration maintain momentum on these priorities and ensure coordination among various departments.

V Srinivas to Continue Till February 2027

With the six-month extension, V Srinivas will continue as Rajasthan Chief Secretary until February 28, 2027, unless further orders are issued.

The decision allows the state to retain an experienced senior administrator during an important phase of governance and development.
