The Ministry of Minority Affairs is strengthening its digital governance framework by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to improve transparency, efficiency and citizen-centric service delivery across its schemes and programmes.
The information was shared by Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
AI to Improve Public Service Delivery
The Ministry said it is exploring the use of AI-powered multilingual chatbots, virtual assistants and intelligent digital interfaces to make government services more accessible and responsive.
These technologies are also being considered to enhance digital services related to the Haj Suvidha App and other initiatives implemented by the Ministry, with the objective of improving user experience and streamlining service delivery.
Collaboration Under IndiaAI Mission
To support its digital transformation efforts, the Ministry is exploring collaboration with sovereign AI companies under the IndiaAI Mission, wherever appropriate.
According to the Ministry, the initiative aligns with the broader vision of developing a robust, inclusive and responsible AI ecosystem in India.
The IndiaAI Mission is built around seven key pillars:
- IndiaAI Compute
- Foundation Models
- IndiaAI Application Development Initiative
- IndiaAI Future Skills
- AIKosh (IndiaAI Datasets Platform)
- Safe & Trusted AI
- IndiaAI Startup Financing
Focus on Privacy and Responsible AI
The Ministry emphasised that any AI-enabled solution will be implemented in accordance with government policies on privacy, confidentiality and information security.
It stated that the processing of personal data will comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, along with other applicable security safeguards and grievance redressal mechanisms to ensure the responsible use of AI.
No Separate Data on AI Vision Centres
The Ministry clarified that its digital initiatives are integrated into the overall administration and monitoring of its schemes and programmes.

As a result, it does not maintain separate data on AI Vision Centres for Minorities, including details related to applications, approvals, fund allocation, beneficiaries or outcome assessments.

By adopting AI-driven solutions, the Ministry aims to make its services more efficient, transparent and accessible while ensuring that digital innovation is implemented with strong safeguards for privacy and data protection.
