Lucknow: The Department of Information Technology & Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh, organised a State-Level Cyber Security Consultation Workshop at Yojana Bhawan in Lucknow on 3 July 2026, bringing together senior government officials, cybersecurity experts, and departmental representatives to strengthen the State’s cyber resilience and secure critical digital infrastructure.

The workshop focused on enhancing the cybersecurity framework across government departments, safeguarding sensitive data and critical infrastructure, and promoting the adoption of national and international cybersecurity best practices within the State’s administrative systems.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. In his welcome address, Sameer Verma, Special Secretary, Department of IT & Electronics, said the Uttar Pradesh Government remains committed to delivering secure and reliable digital public services, with cybersecurity forming the foundation of trusted digital governance.

Addressing the gathering, S.P. Goyal, Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh, underscored the need for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and Deputy CISOs across departments to clearly understand their technical responsibilities in protecting government systems and digital services. Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, IT & Electronics, highlighted the importance of building a robust and coordinated cybersecurity ecosystem to safeguard the State’s digital assets and sensitive government information. The workshop also featured participation from Ashish Tiwari, DIG, Technical Services, Uttar Pradesh Police.

Naveen Kumar Singh, National Cyber Security Coordinator, Government of India, addressed the participants and emphasised the importance of capacity building, institutional strengthening, and the effective use of emerging technologies to support secure, resilient, and citizen-centric digital governance.
Officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, along with CISOs, Deputy CISOs, departmental IT officers, administrative officials, and senior representatives from various Uttar Pradesh Government departments attended the workshop. Participants discussed strategies to strengthen departmental cybersecurity frameworks, improve risk management practices, and enhance the security of digital governance systems.

Technical sessions covered key areas including Security Operations Centres (SOC), State CERT, State Data Centre Security, State Wide Area Network (SWAN) Security, Zero Trust Architecture, the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and its compliance requirements, and cybersecurity capacity building. Each session concluded with interactive discussions, enabling participants to exchange experiences and recommend measures for improving cyber preparedness across departments.
Concluding the workshop, Sameer Verma thanked the dignitaries, experts, and participants, stating that such consultations would play a vital role in strengthening cybersecurity culture across government departments, enhancing the protection of critical infrastructure and public data, and supporting the State’s vision of secure and resilient digital governance.
