PESB Recommends Arvind Kumar as Director (Consumer Mobility) of BSNL

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Arvind Kumar, Director General and Chief Executive Officer (DG & CEO) of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), for the post of Director (Consumer Mobility) at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).


The recommendation was made during PESB Meeting No. 58/2026 held on July 11, following a selection process involving senior candidates from BSNL and other government organisations. The appointment will take effect after receiving the necessary approvals from the competent authority.

Recommendation Follows Competitive Selection Process

The board interviewed seven candidates for the position before recommending Arvind Kumar. The shortlisted candidates included senior executives associated with BSNL’s consumer mobility, transmission and business operations, reflecting the strategic importance of the role in the company’s future growth plans.

Following the PESB recommendation, the proposal will now be forwarded for final approval as per the prescribed process for appointing board-level executives in Central Public Sector Enterprises.


Key Role in BSNL’s Consumer Mobility Business

As Director (Consumer Mobility), Arvind Kumar will be responsible for overseeing BSNL’s mobile services business and driving its consumer mobility strategy.

His responsibilities will include expanding the company’s subscriber base, improving customer experience, strengthening mobile service offerings and supporting the growth of BSNL’s consumer business in an increasingly competitive telecom market.

Appointment Comes During BSNL’s Network Expansion

The recommendation comes at a significant time for BSNL as the state-owned telecom operator continues the nationwide rollout of its indigenous 4G network while preparing for future technology upgrades.
