Kochi: The Global Hydrogen & Renewable Energy Summit 2025, held on March 12–13, 2025 in Kochi, Kerala, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, technology experts, investors, and international stakeholders to discuss the evolving renewable energy landscape and emerging opportunities in green hydrogen and sustainable power solutions.

Addressing the gathering, Narendra Nath Veluri, IFS, Chief Executive Officer, Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology, highlighted the rapid transformation taking place across the global energy sector, driven by technological innovation, clean energy adoption, and advancements in energy storage systems.

Speaking on the pace of change within the renewable energy industry, Veluri noted that solar technology has witnessed remarkable improvements in efficiency over the years. Advancements in solar panel technologies and next-generation energy solutions, he said, are contributing to declining costs and accelerating the wider adoption of renewable energy systems.

He also pointed to the growing significance of energy storage technologies, green hydrogen, and emerging clean energy innovations in shaping the future energy ecosystem. Developments in these sectors are expected to strengthen energy resilience and support the transition towards sustainable and low-carbon economies.

Kerala’s Renewable Energy Roadmap

Highlighting Kerala’s clean energy ambitions, Veluri said the state is working towards significantly expanding its renewable energy capacity in the coming years. Kerala has set targets to add substantial renewable power generation capacity by 2030 while advancing its long-term climate goals, including carbon neutrality initiatives.

He noted that the state government has introduced several policy measures aimed at encouraging investments and accelerating clean energy adoption. Initiatives around floating solar projects, green hydrogen development, renewable power expansion, and energy storage systems are expected to play a key role in Kerala’s sustainability roadmap.

The CEO of ANERT also emphasised the importance of innovation, policy support, and collaboration in driving the renewable energy transition. Platforms such as the summit, he said, enable governments, industries, researchers, and global stakeholders to exchange ideas and identify practical pathways for accelerating clean energy deployment.

Focus on Innovation and Global Collaboration

Discussions during the summit covered a wide range of topics including solar energy advancements, hydrogen technologies, energy storage, clean mobility, and sustainable infrastructure development. Industry experts highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships between governments, research institutions, startups, and private sector players to scale emerging technologies.

The event also showcased Kerala’s efforts to position itself as a key destination for renewable energy investments and green technology innovation.

With participation from national and international delegates, policymakers, technology providers, and energy sector leaders, the summit reinforced the growing momentum around clean energy transformation and the critical role of innovation in building a sustainable energy future.
