Retired IAS officer G Sathyavathi has been appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner of the Karnataka Information Commission, marking an important step in strengthening transparency and governance in the state.
The appointment was approved by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot following a recommendation by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Experienced Administrator Takes Charge
G Sathyavathi brings decades of administrative experience to the role. She entered the Indian Administrative Service in 2004 through promotion after serving in the state civil services, and has since held several key positions within the Karnataka government.
Her most recent role was as Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), where she worked closely with the Chief Minister’s Office on critical governance and administrative matters.
Strengthening Transparency Framework
The Karnataka Information Commission plays a vital role in implementing the Right to Information (RTI) Act, ensuring that citizens have access to government information and that public institutions remain accountable.
With her background in personnel management and administrative reforms, Sathyavathi is expected to bring efficiency, institutional strength, and a balanced approach to the functioning of the commission.
