Bhuvnesh Kumar Appointed Secretary Ministry of Tourism

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Bhuvnesh Kumar, a 1995-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, as Secretary, Ministry of Tourism.

Kumar is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. During his tenure at UIDAI, he played a key role in strengthening India’s digital identity ecosystem and enhancing Aadhaar-based service delivery. He has also held several senior positions in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, where he was involved in administrative reforms, urban governance, and public service delivery initiatives.

With extensive experience in governance, digital transformation, and public administration, his move to the Tourism Ministry is expected to bring a strong technology-driven approach to the sector. His appointment comes following the movement of Srivatsa Krishna to the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
