In a key leadership development at GAIL (India) Limited, Satish Kumar Sinha has been recommended for the post of Director (Finance) by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB).
Currently serving as Executive Director (Finance & Accounts) at GAIL, Sinha emerged as the top choice from a pool of 11 candidates interviewed by the PESB during its selection meeting held on March 17. The final appointment will be subject to approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
The selection process saw participation from candidates across leading public sector organisations, including GAIL itself, GAIL Gas Limited, Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), Ircon International Limited, HPCL, Indian Oil, Indian Railways, and Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited.
Sinha’s journey with GAIL spans over three decades. He joined the company in 1994 as a Management Trainee (Finance & Accounts) and has since built extensive experience across key financial domains such as corporate finance, taxation, treasury operations, budgeting, project evaluation, and mergers & acquisitions.
Beyond core finance functions, he has also played an important role in business development, MoU formulation, and financial decision-making, while actively engaging with investors and the analyst community.
One of his notable contributions has been in driving digital transformation within GAIL, particularly through the implementation of SAP ERP systems, which have helped improve operational efficiency and financial transparency.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, Sinha currently serves as a Director on the board of GAIL Mangalore Petrochemical Ltd. (GMPL) and has earlier been associated with GAIL Global Singapore Pte Limited (GGSPL).

His recommendation comes at a time when GAIL continues to expand its operations and strengthen its financial and strategic capabilities. With his deep institutional knowledge and financial expertise, Sinha is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the company’s future financial strategy.
