The Government of India has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements with 23 countries to promote cooperation on India Stack and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). The agreements aim to support the replication and adoption of India’s digital governance platforms, covering digital identity, digital payments, data exchange, and service delivery systems, as part of India’s expanding DPI diplomacy.
UPI Expands Global Footprint
India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is now operational in more than eight countries, including the UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, Mauritius, and Qatar. The growing international acceptance of UPI is helping facilitate cross-border remittances, expand financial inclusion, and strengthen India’s standing in the global fintech ecosystem.
Key MoUs and Areas of Cooperation
Under the cooperation framework, DigiLocker-related MoUs have been signed with Cuba, Kenya, UAE, and Lao People’s Democratic Republic (LPDR). In addition, broader agreements covering digital identity, payments, and service delivery platforms have been signed with 23 countries, as listed in Annexure-I.
India Stack Global and DPI Repository
To present India’s digital governance solutions to partner countries, the government has launched India Stack Global, which offers access to 18 key digital platforms for adoption by friendly nations. Alongside this, the Global DPI Repository, launched during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023, serves as a knowledge-sharing platform, with India contributing the highest number of DPI solutions.
Flagship Digital Platforms
India’s Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem includes several widely recognised platforms such as Aadhaar, UPI, CoWIN, DigiLocker, API Setu, Aarogya Setu, Government e-Marketplace (GeM), UMANG, DIKSHA, e-Sanjeevani, e-Hospital, e-Office, eCourts, POSHAN Tracker, National Non-Communicable Diseases Platform (NCD), Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), Public Financial Management System (PFMS), and PM GatiShakti.
