In a significant move to enhance administrative efficiency, the Bihar government on Monday announced a major reshuffle of IAS officers, transferring five senior officials and assigning additional charges across key departments. The decision follows the earlier transfer of 13 District Magistrates (DMs), reflecting the state’s focus on strengthening governance and accelerating developmental initiatives.
Key IAS Transfers and Departmental Changes
- K Senthil Kumar (1996 batch), Principal Secretary of Planning and Development, has been given additional charge of the SC/ST Welfare Department and appointed CEO of Mahadalit Vikas Mission.
- Pankaj Kumar Pal (2002 batch), Secretary of Public Health Engineering Department, now also holds additional charge of the Rural Works Department.
- Abhay Kumar Singh (2004 batch) has been transferred from Urban Development and Housing to Food and Consumer Protection Department, retaining responsibilities for Science and Technology and State Electronics Development Corporation.
- Divesh Sehra (2005 batch) moves from SC/ST Department to Rural Works Department and takes additional charge as Vigilance Commissioner for Mines and Geology.
- Saravanan M (2002 batch) has been posted to the General Administration Department, while Sandeep Kumar R Pudkalkatti moves from Road Construction to Urban Development and Housing with additional charge of Patna Metro Rail.
District-Level Leadership Changes
The reshuffle extends to district administration, with new appointments aimed at improving service delivery and decision-making:
- Shrikant Shastri (2012 batch) takes over as DM of Begusarai.
- Taranjot Singh (2017 batch) posted to West Champaran.
- Vivek Ranjan (2017 batch) appointed DM of Siwan.
- Abhilasha Sharma (2017 batch) becomes DM of Aurangabad.

- Nitin Kumar Singh (2018 batch) → DM Kaimur
