MahaCrimeOS AI

The Maharashtra government has partnered with Microsoft to deploy an AI-based platform, MahaCrimeOS AI, to support victims of cybercrime and financial fraud. MahaCrimeOS AI is an AI- and Azure-powered platform developed by CyberEye, a Microsoft partner ISV, along with the Maharashtra government’s special purpose vehicle MARVEL and the Microsoft India Development Center.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the platform would strengthen cybercrime investigations across the state. The initiative is part of Maharashtra’s broader push to use AI-enabled tools for cyber policing.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who was in Mumbai, said the collaboration reflects the kind of AI-driven solutions needed to deliver public benefit. He said MahaCrimeOS AI is designed to help speed up investigations and support citizens affected by cybercrime and financial fraud. Nadella also referred to interactions with police officers and investigators using the system, citing a case from Nagpur where the platform helped reduce the time taken to deliver justice.

According to the state government, MahaCrimeOS AI is being scaled up from 23 police stations to around 1,100 police stations across Maharashtra, expanding its reach statewide.

The CM said the government is focused on the ethical and responsible use of AI in governance and added that Microsoft has provided a secure and advanced technology platform for the initiative.

Harssh Poddar, Superintendent of Police, Nagpur Rural and CEO of MARVEL, said: “MahaCrimeOS AI is redefining how we fight cybercrime—turning complexity into clarity and speed. This platform is not just about faster investigations; it’s about building trust, setting new standards for governance, and creating a model that can scale across India.”

Ram Ganesh, Founder and CEO, CyberEye, said: “Our collaboration with Microsoft and MARVEL has enabled us to empower cutting-edge officers even in remote parts of the state to solve complex cybercrime investigations with ease and reduced workloads. By leveraging Microsoft’s Technology capabilities, we are helping law enforcement create India’s digital shield—empowering them to protect citizens faster and with confidence.”

Separately, the chief minister announced fresh investment discussions with global companies. He said meetings were held with senior executives of FedEx Corporation on expanding the company’s operations in Maharashtra, including logistics and global capability centres. The state’s GCC policy and talent ecosystem were discussed, along with opportunities for startups and incubators.

Fadnavis also announced that Brookfield is setting up a 2 million sq. ft. global capability centre facility in Powai with an investment of $1 billion. The project is expected to generate over 45,000 jobs. He said the development aligns with the state government’s objective of positioning Maharashtra as a leading hub for global capability centres in India.
