The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Jasvinder Singh for the position of Director (Strategic Projects) at Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a Schedule-‘A’ public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Defence.
Singh was selected following an interview conducted by the PESB, which saw participation from ten candidates, including eight officers from the Indian Navy and one each from the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Defence Production. Currently serving as General Manager (Special Duties) in the Indian Navy, Singh emerged as the preferred choice based on his extensive experience in naval operations and strategic project management.

As Director (Strategic Projects), he will be responsible for overseeing key defence manufacturing and shipbuilding initiatives, ensuring alignment between HSL’s production capabilities and the operational needs of the Indian Navy. The role will also involve steering the organisation’s infrastructure modernisation, technology adoption, and the execution of large-scale maritime programmes.
Hindustan Shipyard Limited, headquartered in Visakhapatnam, plays a crucial role in India’s naval shipbuilding and repair ecosystem. Singh’s appointment, which is subject to approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and other necessary clearances, is expected to further strengthen HSL’s leadership team as the shipyard advances its focus on indigenisation, maritime self-reliance, and strategic capability enhancement under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ frameworks.
