Centre approves major Bureaucratic appointments: S Radha Chauhan named CBC Chairperson & key posts filled

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Central Government on Monday issued a series of appointments and extensions across various ministries and departments, including high-profile roles in the Capacity Building Commission, Ministry of External Affairs, and paramilitary forces.


  • S Radha Chauhan (Retd IAS: 1988: UP), former DoPT Secretary, has been appointed as full-time Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) for a period of three years.
  • Sudhakar Dalela (IFS: 1993) appointed Secretary (Economic Relations), Ministry of External Affairs, replacing Dammu Ravi (IFS: 1989) post-superannuation on 31.08.2025.

  • Sibi George (IFS: 1993) will take over as Secretary (West), MEA, succeeding Tanmaya Lal (IFS: 1991) after his superannuation on 31.08.2025.

  • Saurabh Garg (Retd IAS: 1991: OR), Secretary, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, has been granted a one-year extension on contract basis till 31.07.2026.
  • Sanjay Singhal (IPS: 1993: UP) appointed Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), with tenure till his retirement on 31.12.2028.

  • Binita Thakur (IPS: 1996: RJ) appointed as Additional Director General, CISF.
  • Johzy Tom Varghese (IAS: 2014: TN) – Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Mines (4 years)

  • Surendra Choudhary (IPS: 2013: AGMUT) – Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (4 years)

  • Harleen Kaur (IAS: 2012: AGMUT) – Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (4 years)
  • Manoj Tiwari (IPS: 2003: SK) appointed Director, Dr Ambedkar Foundation, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (5 years).

  • H Krishnanunni (IAS: 2012: TN), Private Secretary to MoS Jitin Prasada, has been prematurely repatriated.

  • Manisha Sinha (IPoS: 1992) appointed Member (Financial Services), Postal Services Board, Ministry of Communications.
