India is set to host the fourth edition of Semicon India 2025 from September 2–4, 2025, at the Yashobhoomi (India International Convention and Expo Centre – IICC), New Delhi. The event, jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and SEMI, marks a significant step in the nation’s journey towards becoming a global semiconductor manufacturing hub.
Announced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Semicon India 2025 is poised to become the largest edition to date, attracting over 300 companies from 18 countries. Themed “Building the Next Semiconductor Powerhouse,” this year’s event will showcase India’s evolving capabilities in the semiconductor value chain, including design, manufacturing, equipment, and systems.
A key focus of the event is to catalyse India’s role in the global chip ecosystem by encouraging industry collaboration, innovation, and policy alignment. The platform will unite global CEOs, technology leaders, policymakers, and academia to deliberate on emerging technologies, resilient supply chain strategies, and semiconductor trends.
The 2025 edition will also introduce several firsts to its lineup. For the first time, four International Pavilions—representing Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia—will showcase global advancements in the semiconductor domain. In addition, eight Country Roundtables will facilitate bilateral discussions aimed at fostering cross-border collaboration and investment.
Another highlight is the Semiconductor Design Startup Pavilion, offering innovation-driven chip design firms a platform to showcase their ideas and solutions. The number of participating State Government Pavilions has also grown from six to nine, signalling increased national alignment with the semiconductor mission.
A strong emphasis will be placed on workforce development and skill-building. Training, upskilling sessions, and career counselling programmes will be conducted for students and professionals, reinforcing India’s push to strengthen its semiconductor talent pipeline.
The government’s commitment to the sector is further underlined by the ₹76,000 crore Semicon India Programme, designed to create a robust semiconductor and display ecosystem. In addition to financial incentives, recent amendments to Special Economic Zone (SEZ) rules aim to attract capital-intensive investments and accelerate project execution.
In a notable development, the sixth semiconductor fabrication unit has been approved near Jewar Airport, Uttar Pradesh, through a joint venture between HCL Group and Taiwan’s Foxconn. This facility, with a capacity to manufacture 20,000 wafers monthly, is projected to produce 36 million chips per month and generate employment for around 2,000 people.
With over 1.5 million professionals connected globally through SEMI, and India’s increasingly favourable investment landscape, Semicon India 2025 is expected to be a landmark event in advancing India’s ambitions of becoming a trusted and scalable semiconductor leader.
