Mineral Blocks

Rajasthan has launched the e-auction process for 12 major mineral blocks, covering lead, zinc, iron ore, limestone, fluorite, copper, and other valuable resources. The auctions are being conducted through the Central Government’s MSTC e-portal, marking a significant step in enhancing transparency and efficiency in mineral resource allocation.

According to Principal Secretary, Mines, Geology, and Petroleum, T. Ravikant, the current round of e-auctions includes mining leases for one iron ore block and three limestone blocks, along with composite licenses for eight other blocks. This move underscores Rajasthan’s proactive approach in promoting responsible mining and resource management.

Rajasthan had emerged as the national leader in major mineral block auctions last financial year, successfully auctioning 34 blocks, the highest in the country. The state aims to maintain this top position in the current fiscal year as well. In Q1 of 2025 alone, eight blocks have already been successfully auctioned, with the process continuing for the remaining blocks. One block was auctioned on July 2.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state is working toward becoming a leading mining hub in India. Key policy focus areas include the introduction of a new mineral policy, support for MSMEs, procedural simplification, and accelerated exploration and auctioning of mineral blocks.

The ongoing e-auctions involve limestone mining leases in Khabiya, Khabiya East, and Parevar (Jaisalmer) and an iron ore block in Bagawas, Kotputli-Behror. Composite license auctions are also being conducted for:

  • Fluorite in Chatwara (Jalore)
  • Copper-lead-zinc in West Samodi (Bhilwara)
  • Manganese in Gadariya (Banswara)
  • Lead-zinc in Chauth Ka Barwada (Sawai Madhopur)
  • Copper-associated gold in Shahpura (Bhilwara)
  • Copper in Kurtiyan (Bhilwara)
  • Minerals in Kajlodia Sultangarh (Bhilwara)
  • Emerald in Mojawaton Ka Gudha (Rajsamand)

Director of Mines, Deepak Tanwar, informed that the tender notice for the 12 blocks was published on June 25. Tender documents will be available until July 10, and the last date for bid submission is July 30. All auction-related information is accessible on the department’s official website and the MSTC portal of the Government of India.
