Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals, L&T Energy, AM Green Ammonia, and Waaree Clean Energy Solutions are among nine companies awarded tenders for green hydrogen production under the second tranche of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme, as per an order by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
SECI, the nodal agency for renewable energy projects, issued Letters of Award to these firms, selected from 14 bidders. Other winners include Oriana Power Ltd, Matrix Gas and Renewables Ltd, GH2 Solar Private Ltd, Green Infra Renewable Energy Farms Private Ltd, and Suryadeep KA1 Project Private Ltd.
L&T Energy, Green Infra Renewable Energy Farms, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions, and AM Green Ammonia secured the highest annual production capacity of 90,000 metric tonnes, while Reliance Green Hydrogen won a capacity of 49,000 metric tonnes annually.
A total incentive of ₹2,238.59 crore has been allocated under the second tranche, with ₹513 crore earmarked for AM Green Ammonia, ₹510.3 crore for Waaree Clean Energy Solutions, and ₹437.4 crore for Green Infra. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy invited bids for setting up 450,000 tonnes per annum of green hydrogen capacity under this round.

Industry analysts estimate that a 100,000-tonne green hydrogen facility requires an investment of around ₹18,000-20,000 crore, suggesting that the awarded projects could see investments of approximately ₹80,000 crore.

ReNew E-Fuels Private Limited, Ocior Energy India Private Limited, Nishal Enterprises Private Limited, ChemSepT Engineering Private Limited, and Avaada GreenH2 Private Limited also placed bids under the second tranche.
The private sector is making aggressive strides in India’s renewable energy landscape, particularly in green hydrogen production. Under tranche-II guidelines, bucket-I (technology-agnostic pathways) bids ranged from a minimum of 10,000 tonnes per year to a maximum of 90,000 tonnes, while bucket-II (biomass-based pathways) bids ranged from 500 tonnes to 4,000 tonnes per year. A single bidder could be allocated up to 90,000 tonnes per year.
Successful bidders can set up multiple projects to meet their allocated capacities after receiving the Letter of Award.
In the first tranche of the SIGHT scheme, winners included Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals Ltd, ACME Cleantech Solutions Private Ltd, Greenko ZeroC Private Ltd, Torrent Power, HHP Two Private Ltd, Welspun New Energy, CESC Projects Ltd, UPL Ltd, and JSW Neo Energy Ltd.

The government has capped financial incentives at ₹50 per kg for the first year of production, ₹40 per kg for the second, and ₹30 per kg for the last year under the scheme.
Launched in 2023, the National Green Hydrogen Mission has a budget of ₹19,744 crore until 2029-30 to promote domestic green hydrogen production. The scheme includes ₹17,490 crore for the SIGHT programme, ₹1,466 crore for pilot projects, ₹400 crore for R&D, and ₹388 crore for other initiatives.
India aims to achieve a green hydrogen production capacity of at least 5 million tonnes per annum, with an additional 125 GW of renewable energy capacity by FY30.
