
REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSU under the Ministry of Power, has officially transferred three project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for ISTS Transmission Projects to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). The SPVs—Banaskantha Transco Limited, Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited, and Rajasthan V Power Transmission Limited—were handed over in a formal ceremony in Gurugram.
PGCIL secured the role of Transmission Service Provider (TSP) for these projects through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, the Bid Process Coordinator. The transmission projects will be developed under the Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) model.
The official transfer was carried out by T.S.C. Bosh, CEO, RECPDCL, who handed over the SPVs to Pankaj Pandey, Executive Director, PGCIL, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, PGCIL, and the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited.

Project Details

Banaskantha Transco Limited:

- Scope: Augmentation of transformation capacity at the Banaskantha (Raghanesda) Pooling Station (GIS) with 2×500 MVA, 400/220 kV ICTs and associated works.
- Estimated Cost: ₹143.35 crore.
Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited:
- Scope: Establishment of a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV and 4×500 MVA, 400/220 kV Kurnool-IV Pooling Station near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. Includes 765 kV transmission lines covering 375 km from Kurnool-IV to Bidar and 127 km from Kurnool-IV to Kurnool-III.
- Estimated Cost: ₹4,727.05 crore.

Rajasthan V Power Transmission Limited:
- Scope: Development of transmission systems for immediate and common evacuation of 4 GW power from Sirohi PS and Merta-II PS.
- Estimated Cost: ₹4,736.23 crore.
The implementation period for all three projects is set at 24 months, marking a significant step in strengthening India’s power transmission infrastructure.
