In a historic milestone for Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the New Jammu Railway Division today, marking a transformative step in the region’s connectivity and rail infrastructure. Union Minister Jitendra Singh, speaking at the event, emphasised the division’s significance in integrating Jammu and Kashmir with India’s economic and social mainstream.

Dr. Jitendra Singh described the establishment of the railway division as a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to regional development, noting, “This is not just a logistical achievement but a vital step in connecting Jammu and Kashmir to India’s growth trajectory.” He highlighted how the region’s rail connectivity, long hindered by challenges, has made remarkable progress in recent years.

The event also spotlighted India’s engineering marvel, the world’s highest railway bridge, which towers taller than the Eiffel Tower. “This bridge is a symbol of India’s technological and infrastructural might,” Dr. Jitendra Singh said, underscoring its importance in linking remote regions and enabling faster, more reliable transportation.

The New Jammu Railway Division is set to become a pivotal junction, boosting passenger and freight movement while catalysing economic growth in the region. Dr. Jitendra Singh outlined plans for rail expansion, including the introduction of Vande Bharat trains and enhancing connectivity through smaller stations like Sangaldan, transforming them into vital hubs for regional development.

The Union Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Jammu and Kashmir’s infrastructure, calling it a turning point in making the region one of North India’s best-connected destinations. He emphasized the transformative impact on tourism, trade, and employment, stating, “Whether by road, rail, or air, Jammu is now a hub of connectivity, unlocking immense opportunities.”

Calling on citizens to embrace the new era of connectivity, Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed optimism for the future, highlighting how these advancements would bridge distances, foster inclusivity, and drive growth across the region.
