NHPC and APGENCO

NHPC Limited and Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO) have joined forces to develop renewable energy projects under a newly formed joint venture, APGENCO NHPC Green Energy Limited. The entity, with equal equity participation of 50:50, aims to plan, promote, and execute pumped storage hydropower projects alongside solar, floating solar, and wind energy initiatives.

The joint venture will initially focus on five pumped storage projects: Yaganti PSP (1,000 MW), Rajupalem PSP (800 MW), Gadikota PSP (1,200 MW), Aravetipalli PSP (1,320 MW), and Deenepalli PSP (750 MW). Future projects will be added based on mutual agreement.

In a parallel development, NHPC announced the auction results of 1,200 MW inter-state transmission system-connected solar power projects, which include 600 MW/1,200 MWh energy storage systems. Key winners include Jindal India Renewable Energy, NTPC Renewable Energy, Kolar Solar Power (Rays Power Infra), ReNew Solar Power, and Adani Renewable Energy Holding Nine (Adani Green Energy Limited).

Suzlon Group and Torrent Power Limited have secured a 486 MW hybrid energy order, with Suzlon set to supply 162 S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLT). These turbines, each with a 3 MW capacity, will be installed in Gujarat’s Bhogat region. This collaboration builds on a decade-long partnership, bringing their cumulative orders to 1 GW across Gujarat and Karnataka.

In December 2024, Suzlon partnered with JSP Green Wind 1 Private Limited, a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables, for a 302.4 MW wind power project in Karnataka’s Koppal region. This raises their total joint capacity to 702.4 MW, marking significant progress in sustainable energy solutions.
