Appointments: Nidhi Khare made Secretary MNRE, Chandra Sekhar Sakhamuri named Executive Director REC Limited

The Government of India has appointed Nidhi Khare, IAS (JH:1992), as Secretary, of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, in addition to her current role as Secretary, of the Department of Consumer Affairs, under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution.


The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved this additional charge with immediate effect. Khare will serve in this capacity until a regular appointee is named or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Chandra Sekhar Sakhamuri Appointed Executive Director of REC Limited

Chandra Sekhar Sakhamuri, IAS (TN:2011), has been appointed as the Executive Director of REC Limited, a leading public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power. His tenure began on January 14, 2025.


An accomplished professional, Sakhamuri holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Madras and a Post Graduate Diploma in International Business from Puducherry University. Prior to this role, he served as Director of Sericulture in Tamil Nadu, driving impactful initiatives in the sector.
