Karnataka

Karnataka has long been a powerhouse of innovation, home to world-famous tech hubs like Bengaluru and an ecosystem that drives India’s technological progress. But what truly sets this state apart in the global race for innovation are its Centres of Excellence (CoEs).

What makes these Centers of Excellence so vital?

Karnataka contributes 40% to India’s total IT exports, a feat that speaks volumes about the importance of these centers. But it’s not only about IT. Karnataka is also breaking ground in fields like biotechnology, cybersecurity, and more. Events like the Bengaluru Space Expo highlight the state’s plans to use advancements in space technology to create economic opportunities, projected to generate over $17 billion in the coming years. This scale of ambition is backed by key leaders, including Shri Priyank Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology & Biotechnology, who has championed initiatives like the Elevate program.

Karnataka’s Push for Technological Excellence Through 21 Centres of Excellence

The Government of Karnataka is on a mission to lead in emerging technologies with 21 Centres of Excellence (CoEs). Currently, 14 of them are already up and running, and 7 more are in the works. These centres are tied to some of the state’s best universities and top industry groups, making them hubs for cutting-edge research and game-changing innovations.

So, what do these CoEs do? Well, they’re not just about tech for tech’s sake. They’re all about helping startups thrive by giving them everything they need—funding, mentorship, and resources. On top of that, these centres work hand-in-hand with industry experts to solve real-world problems and come up with creative solutions.

By bringing together brilliant minds from universities, startups, and major companies, Karnataka is positioning itself as a powerhouse for tech and entrepreneurship. The result? An ecosystem where innovation drives growth and new ideas turn into reality.
