WEBEL’s Online Examination Centre, established in 2007, is a state-of-the-art facility that has transformed how exams are conducted. Located at WEBEL HRDC, Taratala in Kolkata, this centre boasts approximately 250 computers connected through a robust network. The infrastructure is supported by backup systems and CCTV surveillance, ensuring zero downtime and 100% reliability during examinations.

This facility is a preferred choice for many examination service providers, including TCS, Eduquity, MeritTrac, Prometric, and SMS Enterprise. It hosts national-level undergraduate and postgraduate examinations as well as professional and corporate recruitment tests. Major clients include government bodies and educational institutions such as:

• Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), General Insurance Corporation (GIC)
• Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), AIIMS, CAT, GATE, and Staff Selection Commission

A notable initiative is the Skill Development Project under the West Bengal Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Class Development & Finance Corporation Ltd. (WBSCSTOBCDFC). This program aims to create employment opportunities for 800 youth from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities.

Participants are trained for roles such as CRM Domestic Non-Voice Operators and Domestic Data Entry Operators, ensuring they can access stable and rewarding career paths.

Detailed Responder Training for Police Officers

Recognising the importance of technological proficiency in law enforcement, WEBEL collaborates with the Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy (SVSPA) to deliver Detailed Responder Training. This program focuses on computer fundamentals and cyber security, equipping police officers to handle cybercrime investigations effectively.

Recently, 13 Deputy Superintendents of Police (Dy.SPs) participated in a five-day training program conducted under the guidance of the Cyber Security Centre of Excellence (CSCoE), Government of West Bengal. These initiatives underscore WEBEL’s role in enhancing the operational efficiency of law enforcement agencies.

Cyber Security and Hygiene Training for BSK

The Bangla Sahayata Kendra (BSK) is a flagship project of the West Bengal government, providing essential public services to a vast population. Given its reliance on technology-driven platforms, knowledge of cyber security is critical for safe service delivery.

WEBEL has trained 7,146 Data Entry Operators associated with BSK in cyber security and hygiene practices. Delivered online under the guidance of the Department of IT & Electronics (IT&E) and CSCoE, the program focuses on endpoint and application-level security. This training ensures that operators can safeguard sensitive information while offering efficient services.
