Minstry of Education

Sanjay Kumar, a 1990-batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, has been entrusted with additional charge as Secretary of the Department of Higher Education. The decision, effective immediately, has been approved by the competent authority and will remain in effect until a regular appointment is made or further instructions are issued.

Currently serving as Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Kumar has had a distinguished career in the education sector. His past roles include Secretary of Youth Affairs and Principal Secretary for Education in Bihar, where he spearheaded several reforms. With this new responsibility, Kumar is expected to bring his extensive policy-making and administrative expertise to transform India’s higher education landscape.

In a parallel development, Dr Arunvir Singh, a retired 1987-batch IAS officer and the incumbent Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Yamuna Authority, has taken extended leave for personal reasons. In his absence, Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) Shruti, a 2011-batch IAS officer, has been appointed Acting CEO.

Shruti has a robust track record, having served as District Magistrate in Balrampur and Fatehpur, and has been deeply involved in administrative operations with the Noida Authority. Under her interim leadership, critical projects such as the Noida International Airport, the world’s largest film city, and industrial park developments are expected to continue without disruptions.
