As the world grapples with the escalating effects of climate change, India stands at the forefront of a renewable energy revolution. With ambitious green energy goals set for 2030 and beyond, the country is making significant strides to reduce carbon emissions, enhance sustainability, and transition towards a more resilient energy infrastructure. India’s journey towards achieving its green energy goals is marked by a series of strategic and forward-thinking initiatives. From expanding solar and wind capacities to promoting electric vehicles and green hydrogen, the country is setting a benchmark for renewable energy deployment.
National Power Training Institute (NPTI) has been playing a crucial role in shaping and building a skilled workforce in the renewable energy sector over the past several years. NPTI has specialised and extensive training programs aimed at enhancing the skills of professionals in the renewable energy sector. These programs cover a wide range of topics, including solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind energy, bioenergy, and energy efficiency. By offering specialised courses and workshops, NPTI ensures that engineers, technicians, and managers are well-versed in the latest technologies and best practices. This focus on capacity building is essential for meeting India’s ambitious renewable energy targets, as it addresses the skill gap in the workforce required to deploy and maintain renewable energy systems effectively.
NPTI offers a Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC) in Renewable Energy, which covers the entire spectrum of technologies, policies and regulations related to Renewable Energy including green hydrogen. This course equips the students with all the necessary skills needed to excel in the Power & Energy industry.

NPTI will soon start conducting Training and Capacity building programs for DISCOMs officials under the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This scheme was recently launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for installing solar PV on rooftops of One Crore households in the country. Lage scale mobilisation of skilled and highly trained workforce is needed to ensure successful and effective implementation of this scheme.

NPTI has also conducted many training and awareness programs on “Energy Conservation” for the Girls student in Uttar Pradesh. These programs were highly appreciated by the Girls students and schools. More than 50,000 girl students participated in these training programs.
Through these and many more initiatives, NPTI is helping to build a skilled workforce for renewable energy technologies, including green hydrogen and promoting sustainable practices, all of which are essential for achieving India’s ambitious renewable energy targets and fostering a sustainable green energy future.
