The Elets Housing & Infrastructure Summit held on 6th September at the Taj President Mumbai, brought together government officials, policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to explore the future of affordable and sustainable housing in Maharashtra. Organised in collaboration with the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), the summit celebrated MHADA’s remarkable contributions to the housing sector and charted strategies for the state’s future development.
The summit featured key discussions on critical topics, including innovative strategies for affordable housing, sustainable urban development through green infrastructure and smart city technologies, and the role of public-private partnerships in driving innovation and efficiency. Special focus was also placed on the vital role of Housing Finance Companies (HFCs) and banks in streamlining housing and infrastructure projects, with presentations showcasing the latest advancements in the housing sector.
Shri Atul Save, Hon’ble Minister of Housing, Government of Maharashtra, emphasized the government’s commitment to making housing accessible for all. He remarked, “Our aim is to make housing affordable, sustainable, and inclusive, especially for the economically weaker sections and low-income groups. MHADA has been instrumental in achieving this goal, and this summit is a testament to our ongoing efforts.”
During her keynote address, Ms. Valsa Nair Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Maharashtra Housing Department, highlighted the pressing issue of housing affordability. “The gap between rising property prices and slower growth in per capita income is a challenge we must address. MHADA’s transparent lottery system serves as a model of fairness in providing affordable housing to those in need,” she stated.
Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, Vice President & CEO of MHADA, reflecting on MHADA’s legacy, said, “Over the past 75 years, MHADA has built around 10 lakh affordable houses, positively impacting countless lives. Our participation in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) underscores our dedication to providing housing to the homeless. I would also like to thank Elets Technomedia for organizing this summit and creating the special eGov souvenir dedicated to MHADA’s achievements.”

The summit featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Shri Rajagopal Devara, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner of the Planning Department, Government of Maharashtra; Shri SVR Srinivas, IAS, CEO & Officer on Special Duty for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project; Partha Sarathi, IAS, Director cum Additional Secretary, Public Enterprises Department, Government of Odisha; Shri Vijay Singhal, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO); and Dr. K.H. Govinda Raj, IAS, Principal Secretary, Maharashtra Urban Development Department (UDD).
A special highlight of the event was the launch of the eGov magazine’s special souvenir, dedicated to MHADA’s exceptional contributions to affordable housing in Maharashtra. The souvenir, featuring articles, interviews, and case studies, was unveiled by Shri Atul Save alongside other dignitaries.
