In a recent administrative change in the state, the Odisha government has initiated a significant police reshuffle across the state. As part of the reshuffle, 50 IPS officers, including Bhubaneswar Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda and DCP Prateek Singh, have been transferred. Panda, who held the position for only nine months, has been appointed ADG training and director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA). Singh has been posted as SP Cuttack (rural). This is the first major reshuffle by the newly elected BJP government, shortly after Chief Minister Mohan Majhi called for time-bound transfers during a district collectors’ conference.
S Dev Datta Singh (1998 batch) has been appointed the new police commissioner of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Pinak Mishra (2011 batch), SP of Puri, and Jagmohan Meena (2013 batch), SP of Ganjam, are now DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, respectively.
Uma Shankar Dash, SP of Angul, has been made the additional commissioner of police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. ADG crime branch, Arun Bothra (1996 batch), who was overseeing the Bharatpur case investigation, has been posted as ADG railways and coastal security. Vinaytosh Misra (1993 batch) replaces Bothra as crime branch ADG.

Other key appointments include Saumendra Priyadarsi as ADG modernisation, R P Koche as Director of Intelligence, and J N Pankaj as IG (operations). Arun Ray, a DG-ranked officer, is now director of prisons, replacing S M Narvane, who has moved to the home department. Saravana Vivek M has been reinstated as SP Berhampur, and changes have also been made in Jajpur, Puri, Khurda, and Bhadrak.
