In a recent move, the Government of Gujarat has assigned new responsibilities to two IAS officers. Simultaneously, Karnataka has enacted a minor bureaucratic reshuffle involving three IAS officers and one IPS officer across the state.

In Gujarat, Ponugumatla Bharathi, a 2005-batch IAS officer, will now serve as the Department of State Tax Special Commissioner. Arti Kanwar, a 2001-batch IAS officer and the current Secretary in the Finance Department, Economic Affairs, Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar, has been given the additional role of Chief Commissioner in the Department of State Tax.

The officers and their new postings in Karnataka are as follows:

Sivakumar KB, a 2010-batch IAS officer, has been appointed Commissioner in the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority, Bengaluru.
Rajendra KV, a 2013-batch IAS officer previously serving as the Director of Tourism in Bengaluru, has been transferred to the role of Managing Director of the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation, Bengaluru, with an additional charge as Director of Tourism, Bengaluru.
Vyshali ML, a 2013-batch IAS officer, will become the managing director of Hubballi Electricity Supply Company Limited (HESCOM).
R Chethan, a 2010-batch IPS officer formerly the DIG/Police Commissioner of Kalaburagi, has been appointed the Commissioner of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports.
