In a significant move to enhance pro-citizen policing across Punjab, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav has issued directives to senior police officers, from Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGsP) to Station House Officers (SHOs), to be available in their offices from 11 AM to 1 PM on all working days for addressing public grievances.

DGP Yadav, through his official X handle (formerly Twitter), emphasised that officers including Range ADGPs/IGPs/DIGs, Commissioners of Police, district SSPs, Sub-divisional DSPs, and SHOs must prioritise being accessible to the public during these hours. He highlighted that availability to citizens is a fundamental duty of the police force.

At the Punjab Police Headquarters (PPHQ) in Chandigarh, specific days have been designated for senior officers of the rank of Special DGP/Additional DGP to meet and resolve citizens’ issues. Special DGP Welfare Ishwar Singh will be available on Mondays, ADGP Security SS Srivastava on Tuesdays, ADGP Traffic AS Rai on Wednesdays, ADGP Provisioning G Nageswara Rao on Thursdays, and Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla on Fridays.
