
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed Harish Kumar Gupta (IPS: 1992: AP) as the Director General of Police (DGP) for Andhra Pradesh. In directives issued to the Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh, immediate action was mandated, with Mr. Gupta instructed to assume office promptly and submit a compliance report to the ECI.
This decision follows the transfer of KV Rajendranath (IPS: 1992: AP) by the Election Commission of India on Sunday. The state government had submitted a list of three potential candidates for the position to the EC for consideration, including IPS officers Dwaraka Tirumala Rao (IPS: 1989: AP), Madireddy Pratap (IPS: 1992: AP), and Harishkumar Gupta. After thorough review, Gupta was selected by the ECI to take on the critical responsibility of leading the state police force.
